
Ramon Torres is an entrepreneur with a diverse background in business, communications, community relations, diversity affairs and international trade. He is principal of Epicure Group International, an ACDBE certified company in Las Vegas where he is responsible for the company’s varied business efforts in the U.S. and abroad. EGI specializes in specialty retail, product sourcing, logistics, international business development and consulting including Foreign Trade Zone operations and U.S. Customs regulatory compliance.
From 2004 to 2010, Ramon served as Community Relations Officer for the city of Las Vegas. He represented elected officials and administrators in the city’s effort to engage the diverse communities of Las Vegas and promote the city’s diversity efforts internally and externally, and was responsible for Diplomatic Affairs and Protocol. Prior to becoming the city’s Community Relations Officer, Ramón was General Manager of the national award winning city of Las Vegas television station KCLV Channel 2 where he was responsible for all aspects of operations including creative development.
Mr. Torres is active in the community on a local and national level. Since 2006, Ramon served on the board of the Nevada Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing participation of minority suppliers in the public and private sectors. Ramon is the 2010 Asian Chamber of Commerce of Nevada Member of The Year and has received numerous recognitions from local, federal and international agencies for his efforts to promote cultural and business relations. He has served on the International Trade and Events Committees for the Latin Chamber of Commerce and is also involved with the Las Vegas Urban, and Asian Chambers of Commerce, the Southern Nevada Civilian Military Council, Nevada Consular Corps and is a 2005 graduate of Leadership Las Vegas. Ramón has contributed articles and commentary to local and international media on diverse topics including the Las Vegas business climate, fine living, community affairs, international trade and the explosive growth and importance of the Latino in America as a community and consumer. He has been a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalist, National Association of Television Officers and Advisers, Specialty Coffee Association of America and the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers Association.
Born and raised in Calexico, California, Ramon is the youngest of six and the proud son of immigrants. He and his family spent many summers working the fields of central and southern California harvesting fruits and vegetables to help make ends meet. He is a strong supporter of higher education and frequently addresses students to emphasize the importance of a good education.
