Juergen Barbusca is manager of communications for Cox Communications-Las Vegas. In his role with the company, the award-winning business communicator is responsible for media relations, contributions to the company’s community relations efforts and supports marketing-communications initiatives for Cox’s business and residential products/services. Previously he was director of public relations for Las Vegas-based Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada where he created and implemented public relations programs for the organization within a five-county wide area in Nevada. Barbusca is a state certified language translator and worked as a freelance translator for English-German in Munich, Germany and then later as a corporate translator for Munich-based Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.
He has been involved in numerous local organizations including as former president for the International Association of Business Communicators, the Public Relations Society of America, Urban Chamber of Commerce, Class Publications, Frederick Douglass Educational Fund, as well as the Ira Aldridge Theatre Company.
During the last six years, Barbusca has become increasingly involved in Latin Chamber programs and has just completed his first two-year term as a board member. During this time he served on the Finance, Government Affairs and Public Affairs committees, heading-up the latter for one year. He has helped craft vital position statements on behalf of the Chamber, served as an intermediary to local media and took an active part in budget discussions during a period of financial austerity among other contributions. Barbusca is looking forward to leveraging the momentum that was developed by the board during the last two years in hopes of creating an even stronger organization. Additionally, Barbusca is able to facilitate the resources and support of Cox Communications, a major supporter of the Chamber, to help achieve numerous objectives throughout the year.
He has an undergraduate degree in German literature and a graduate degree in public administration both from UNLV.
