
Isabel was born in Santiago de Cuba. Her Professional Credentials include University Saint Thomas of Villanova, Ciencias Comerciales; University of Havana, Cuba (CPA), Certified Public Accountant; George Washington University, (MBA) Master Business Administration.
Her impressive professional career includes the World Health Organization (WHO) Specialized Agency of the United Nations, the Regional Office for the Americas. She was employed from October 1959 through October 1985, last position serving as Deputy Director of the Budget Office responsible for the preparation of 180 million annual budget submitted for approval to the Directing Council’s meeting taking place every January at WHO Headquarters in Geneva. Traveled extensively through Mexico, Central and South America and some islands in the Caribbean providing advisory and technical support in the preparation of their Governments Bi-annual Budget.
Isabel and her late husband, Jim, moved to Las Vegas in 1986. They have two daughters, Isie Pfeifer and Victoria Kazee; three grandchildren Dan Laster, Gina and Michael Tulimero. She founded and became President of Easy-Comp, Inc. providing consulting services for small businesses changing from manual to computer based accounting systems. She has been involved with many political and charitable organizations, and has been a proud member of the Latin Chamber since 1986.
Among the many awards and recognitions received are: 1994 Public Service Award from Latin Chamber; 1994 KLAS-TV Channel 8, Community Pride’ 1995 Nevada Opera Theater International Friendship Award; Appointment by Governor Richard Bryan to a “Commission to Study Fiscal Affairs of State and Local Governments in Nevada”; Congressional Order of Merit – 2008 from Chairman and Executive Council National Republican Congressional Committee; June 30 1997 Proclamation by Governor Bob Miller, designating June 30 1997 as “A Day to Honor Isabel Pfeifer, Board Chairman of the Taxi Cab Authority”; Appointed by Senator John Ensign to the Nevada Delegation attending the Republican Convention in San Diego. and nominated to cast the Nevada vote on behalf of Presidential candidate, Senator Bob Dole .On May 1, 2009, the Mayor of Las Vegas Honorable Oscar Goodman, declared this day to honor Isabel Pfeifer in Las Vegas.
Mrs. Pfeifer served during six years in the Taxi Cab Authority, where she became Chairman. She served during 14 years as a Member of the Board and Audit Committee of HSBC Bank, Nevada from 1993 through 2008. Upon her retirement she received $5,000 dollars to be given to the charity of her choice: June 20, 2008 she gave the funds to the Latin Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation Scholarship Fund in her name and HSBC Bank.
