Once again, it pays to have strong leadership locally and in Washington D.C. that is willing to take on the tough issues and the mainstream media. The Latin Chamber's very own Elizabeth Gallagher was instrumental in spearheading immediate action against CNN's Lou Dobb's who in March 2009 berated the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC). During his show Dobb's, for some unknown reason, stated, "The USHCC is effectively an organization that is interested in the export of American capital and production to Mexico and Mexico's export of drugs and illegal aliens to the United States." Truly an off color and uncalled for attack against the USHCC said Gallagher. Gallagher believes these kinds of attacks not only tarnish the creditability of the USHCC but shed an unfavorable light on all Hispanic chambers as well. Once again, it proves that when Latinos stand up for their rights they will prevail!
